Bright Moments

Gene Baynes, the creative force behind Bright Moments, got the music biz bug at 15 when he played trumpet in front of an audience for the first time. Within 60 seconds he made up his mind that music was his destiny. The Pittsburgh native started off with the local band The New Dawn and gigged regularly around the city. Next, while attending the University of Pittsburgh, Gene upped the ante and formed the six piece Funk outfit Bright Moments. Crowds were quickly captivated by the band’s incredible showmanship and musical chops. Bright Moments were soon on tour hitting the Tri-state nightclubs, major festivals, and sharing the stage with such acts as David Sanborn, Bobby Blue Bland, and headlining in New York with Sister Sledge opening. In 1978 the band hit the studio and cut their first single for Jeree Records, Izya Funkin’ Tonight b/w Bright Moments. These incredible Funk jams now reside at Fervor Records where Bright Moments’ legacy lives on with credits in high-profile shows such as 12 Monkeys (SyFy) and Catfish: The TV Show (MTV).
