Walt Richardson is without a doubt a Tempe music legend and the City’s favorite son. The engaging singer/songwriter has been a prominent fixture on the scene for decades. Starting off as a simple street musician, Walt soon took the Southwest by storm with his 1980s Reggae outfit Walt Richardson and The Morningstar Band.
In 2014 the City of Tempe declared Richardson’s 60th birthday as Walt Richardson Day. The charismatic performer’s many achievements were commemorated with an induction into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall Of Fame at the Tempe Center For The Arts. The City of Tempe once again honored Mr. Richardson as the first musician to be inducted to Tempe’s Music Walk.
In November of 2014 Walt received a gold plaque embedded in the sidewalks of Mill Avenue. More of Tempe’s great talent has followed, but true to form, Walt led the way. Not only does Richardson continue to make incredible music, he hosts the TV show Songwriters’ Showcase at Tempe Center for the Arts. The show airs on PBS affiliate KAET and Tempe Channel 11. Walt also has a nationally-syndicated radio show via Radio Phoenix and the African American Radio Consortium. A Peaceful Place in Quantum Space airs Saturdays from 12 – 2 PM. Fervor Records is excited to celebrate Walt’s engaging music once again.
