Shoeshine Boy
Hailing from Champaign, Illinois, Shoeshine Boy embodied the quintessential sound of 90’s pop rock. With a focus on strong songwriting and undeniably catchy guitar hooks, the band featured the alluring vocals of Jocelyn Baker along with Paul Farahvar, Nelson Reyes and later, John Houston. Shoeshine Boy made a name for itself at the University of Illinois as one of the hottest upcoming acts with their debut CD “Days Like These.” The album’s title was a tongue in cheek response to comparisons with Natalie Merchant and The Cranberries. The band toured with acts like The Freddy Jones Band, Why Store and The Lovehammers before dissolving in 1999. The legacy of Shoeshine Boy now resides in the loving hands of Fervor Records.
