Nenad Mandic

Lifelong musician Nenad Mandic was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and began receiving formal training on the accordion at age 7. With an emphasis on Balkan Folk music, he graduated from the legendary music academy, Josip Slavenski, and continued his studies in Theory and Composition at Belgrade’s storied Academy of Music. By age 16, he had composed and recorded the music for prolific filmmaker Radolasv Vladic’s film “Kuca,” garnering critical praise and finishing second at the 16mm Film Festival in Oberhausen, Germany. Beginning in 1982 he began his work with the internationally-televised Eurovision contest, performing as guitarist with the Rock group Aske. His last major performance in the former Yugoslavia was when he represented Serbia as the composer of their official Eurovision entry, “Djavolica,” and guitarist in the Rock band Amsterdam. Nenad’s solo career has continued to take him around the world, performing original material at some of Europe’s most prestigious concert halls, museums, hotels, and festivals.
