Nadine Jansen

Jazz impresario and child prodigy Nadine Jansen quickly made a name for herself on the national nightclub circuit. In 1948 the young Nadine was discovered by Horace Heidt. Heidt was a famed bandleader for CBS, NBC and a Columbia Records recording artist. Nadine was soon touring nationally with Heidt’s outfit playing alongside top performers including The Clooney Sisters and Nat King Cole. The Sacramento, California native wowed audiences simultaneously playing flugelhorn and piano. The addition of her velvety smooth voice took things to another level. The gifted artist performed often at notable venues such as New York’s Capitol Theater, Chicago’s Blue Note, Brooklyn’s Majestic Theater and Washington DC’s Capitol Theater.

Nadine settled in Scottsdale, Arizona where she gigged full time. However, she still found time to tour nationally to rave reviews and continually packing venues. She founded the record label, Jantone Records, releasing multiple LPs and 45s of her originals and selections from the Great American Songbook. Nadine was also a regular on fellow female Jazz virtuoso Marian McPartland’s NPR radio show “Piano Jazz.” Nadine Jansen passed away at the age of 79 in 2008. Her rich musical legacy lives on at Fervor Records through her recorded music and Jantone Records.
