Description
Pistoleros is the inspiring true story of brothers Mark and Lawrence Zubia. The two grew up in a large Mexican-American family in Arizona. Musicians from an early age in their father’s Mariachi group, the brothers formed several bands at the forefront of the 1990’s Tempe music scene made famous by Billboard charting artists such as Gin Blossoms, Jimmy Eat World and The Refreshments. The band was co-founded with ex Gin Blossoms leader Doug Hopkins and the brothers. After the early death of Hopkins, and despite landing a million dollar major label record deal, Mark and Lawrence’s fortunes were repeatedly tested by alcoholism, suicide and opioid addiction. Pistoleros explores The Zubia Brothers’ complex relationship through interviews with Lawrence and Mark, family members, doctors, colleagues, bandmates, their record label, journalists and through The Zubia’s incredible song catalog. Pistoleros is a remarkable documentary personifying strong Latino family bonds, music, faith, and redemption; leading to the conclusion that where there’s breath . . . there’s hope. Bonus features include: Pistoleros Music Videos, Deleted scenes and interviews
